Title I Parent Involvement

The Wilkes County School System will conduct an on-site review and revision of the FY 18 Parent Involvement Plan on Monday, July 31, from 2:00 until 5:00 at the Wilkes County Board of Education.  All parents and interested community members are invited to come by and review and give input into the Comprehensive Needs Assessment.

WWMS Students Successful at FBLA Regional Leadership Conference FBLA Students at RLC

Washington Wilkes Middle School FBLA attended Region Leadership Conference January 26th . Region conference consists of going to workshops, meeting new people, and the best- competition. At the conference, the workshops get you moving around, meeting new people, while having lots of fun! The people that competed at RLC is Chase Chafin, Emily Eligio, Jayden Guin, Kylie Pruit, Eduardo Sandoval, Brett Tanner, Darien Todd, and Yesica Velazquez.  Students always have a blast at Region Leadership Conference. Sixth grader, Kylie Pruit said, "My favorite part of the conference was interacting with students from different places in Georgia and winning awards." Overall, these Middle Schoolers had an awesome experience at Georgia FBLA Region Leadership Conference. Darien Todd placed 1st in Parliamentary procedure concepts, Kylie Pruitt placed 2nd in Personal Financial concepts and 3rd in Career Exploration, Emily Eligio placed 4th in Career Exploration, Jayden Guin placed 5th in Marketing concepts, and Eduardo Sandoval placed 5th in Business Concepts.

Student Literacy Projects

Reading is an important skill needed everyday.  To help encourage our students to read independently, WWMS has implemented a new independent reading program.  Students will be required to read 4 teacher-approved books each grade period and complete a literacy project for each one.  More details are found under the parent resources link.  Please contact the school if you have any questions.

Report Cards to Go Home Friday

Report cards will go home this Friday, January 6.  Several other pieces of important infroamtion will be in the envelope with report cards.  Please make sure to sign the necessary forms and return to school Monday, January 9.

Report Cards Go Home October 12 Report Cards

WWMS students will be receiving their report cards this Wednesday, October 12.  The promotion rubric for this year is also included in the envelope with report cards.  Please sign both of these forms and return them to school on October 13.  If you have questions about grades, please contact the school at 706-678-7132 or contact the teacher by email.

Beta Club Induction Ceremony & Breakfast Beta Club Inductees

New Beta Club members were recognized at the Induction Ceremony on Friday, September 30.  Parents of the new inductees were invited to attend. During the ceremony, the objectives of Beta Club were emphasized, and each new members was given their certificate and pin.  Following the ceremony, all members enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Pictures of the event are located in the gallery on this page.

WWMS Fall Dance Dance

All students are invited to celebrate fall with a dance on Thursday, October 4.  The dance is being sponsored by WWMS Student Council and will be held in the cafeteria from 3:30 to 5:00.  In order to stay for the dance, students must bring $3.00 and a signed permission form by Thursday at lunch.  Refreshments will be sold at the dance.

Back to School Tailgate 21st Century

21st Century Achievers Program will be having its annual "Back to School" tailgate on Friday, August 26th from 5-7 at Tiger Stadium: free food, free school supplies, and Athens Techs classes information!

Tiger Sports Physicals

The school year is coming to an end, but the Tiger Athletic Department is getting ready for next year.  Free physicals will be offered after school on Thursday, May 27.  Any student interested in participating in sports for the 2017-2018 school year is encouraged to get a physical.  Physical packets are available in the office and need to be completed prior to the exam.  If you have any questions, please contact the school.

Mark your calendars for Washington-Wilkes Middle School's Honors Night! This year's ceremony will be held on May 18 at 6:00 in the WWCHS/WWMS Cafeteria.  Invitations will be sent, and parents are encouraged to RSVP to the school.

Milestones Testing GADOE logo

GA DOE announces a refreshed Experience Online Testing Georgia website is now available with a demonstration test for each of three grade bands – grades 3-5, grades 6-8, and high school – with sample items from each content area.  While the 3-5 and 6-8 grade bands will contain Science and Social Studies items, please be reminded that these two content areas will be assessed in grades 5 and 8 only.  The primary purpose of this website is to provide exposure to the online platform that students will utilize when taking the Georgia Milestones tests.
